MANDY'S TAKE

Coles’ budget offering follows the predictable formula: decent wholegrains (46%) undermined by ultra-processing. The ‘yoghurt compound’ coating tells the real story – it’s 17% sugar and palm oil masquerading as dairy. With glucose as ingredient #2, followed by sugar in the coating, invert syrup, and more sugar, we’re looking at classic sugar-stacking that totals 24g/100g. The ‘strawberry’ comes from elderberry concentrate and flavouring, not actual fruit. It’s cheap for a reason – this is confectionery pretending to be a wholesome snack.

THE VERDICT

This earns the same 2.5 stars as Uncle Tobys bars – and for similar reasons. Despite wholegrains, the ultra-processed coating, multiple sugars, and lack of real fruit keep it firmly in “limit” territory. At least the price reflects the quality. Save your money for real food.
