DISCLAIMER AND DISCLOSURE

Last updated: 26 June 2025

The Real Food Rating is 100% independent and free from influence by the food industry.

We do not accept payments, gifts, or samples in exchange for favourable reviews or product placement. Our product evaluations are based solely on ingredient transparency, level of processing, additive content, and alignment with wholefood values.

Regardless of any brand consultancy work, ambassadorships or affiliations, we are committed to remaining objective, evidence-based, and impartial in all our reviews and ratings.

A Note to Readers

All views expressed on this website are those of Mandy Sacher and the Real Food Rating team, presented in good faith and based on current research and nutrition science.

We strive for fairness, accuracy, and transparency in all our reviews. However, scientific knowledge evolves, and so may our perspectives and rating methodology over time. We consider this an essential part of having an open, evidence-led mind.

While we do our best to fact-check every article and product rating, we cannot guarantee that all external data from product labels or manufacturer websites is 100% accurate. Readers should always verify information and ingredient changes directly with the brand or manufacturer.

About Our Ratings and Advice

The Real Food Rating does not test food products in a lab. Our reviews are based on publicly available ingredient lists, nutrition panels, brand marketing, and regulatory disclosures. We rely on this data to assess the quality and healthfulness of packaged foods—especially those marketed to children.

Our Real Food Rating system ranks products across five categories: Best, Good, Okay, Limit, and Avoid. These rankings reflect how well a product aligns with our real food standards—not how it will impact every individual.

Because each child and family is unique, no product or category is guaranteed to be suitable for every need. Our ratings are intended to help you make more informed choices, not to diagnose or treat any health condition. Always consult a qualified health practitioner or paediatric nutritionist for personalised advice.

Reader Contributions and Comments

This site is designed as an open resource and educational platform. While we welcome feedback and discussion, we do not endorse or take responsibility for the accuracy of user-submitted comments.

We reserve the right to remove any comment that is abusive, promotional, off-topic, or misleading.

If you notice an error or outdated information in any of our product ratings or articles, please let us know via our contact form. We are committed to making corrections when necessary and value contributions from our community.

For Food Brands and Manufacturers

We welcome transparency, reformulation, and open dialogue. If you believe your product has been unfairly reviewed or would like to submit updated data for review, please contact us with verifiable information. If we agree with your submission, we will happily correct the review.

Our goal is not to shame brands, but to raise the standard of nutrition transparency in Australia—and to advocate for better food options for children and families.
