MANDY'S TAKE
“This bar starts with a solid wholefood foundation with 71% of its ingredients coming from nuts and seeds, delivering both protein and fibre, with relatively low sugar per serve. However, the ingredient list takes a sharp turn with the addition of soy protein isolate, inulin, glucose syrup, maltodextrin, sunflower oil, caramelised sugar syrup, and glycerine, pushing it firmly into the processed protein bar category. Despite this ultra-processed makeup, it somehow earns a 5 Health Star Rating — a result that raises serious questions about the credibility of the system.
Thanks to its high real food content, this bar does outperform many other commercial high-protein snacks, but it’s far from an ideal everyday wholefood choice. It receives a 2.75/5 Real Food Rating (RFR), acknowledging its attempt to do better than others in the Limit category.
With a slight reformulation, this bar could easily earn a stronger rating and better meet the expectations of parents seeking genuinely nourishing snacks without the junk.”

THE VERDICT
This bar starts strong with a base of 71% roasted peanuts and added seeds, delivering impressive protein and fibre. But beyond the wholefoods, it’s propped up by ultra-processed protein isolates, glucose syrup, maltodextrin, glycerine and refined sunflower oil — a common formula in the commercial protein bar space. While it’s a better choice than many other bars or cereal-based snacks, it’s still an ultra-processed bar, not a real one. Best suited to active adults occasionally needing convenient fuel — not something we’d recommend for children or anyone for everyday snacking. It receives a 2.75 Real Food Rating (RFR).
