MANDY'S TAKE
“This bar relies on the inclusion of oats, protein, and a 4.5 Health Star Rating to promote itself as a nutritious high-protein muesli bar, but the ingredient list reveals a highly processed product with far less nutritional value than advertised. The second ingredient is soy protein isolate, an ultra-processed protein isolate used to inflate protein claims. It also contains multiple forms of added sugar (glucose, sugar, invert sugar, honey) and dark chocolate made with vegetable fat instead of real cocoa butter. This is an example of sugar-splitting and ingredient engineering. It’s not recommended for kids or anyone looking for real food nutrition.”

THE VERDICT
This bar may boast high protein and fibre, but it’s built on ultra-processed ingredients like glucose syrup, soy protein isolate, compound chocolate, and refined oils. With multiple synthetic additives and hardly a wholefood in sight, it feels more lab-designed than nourishing. A high Health Star Rating doesn’t make it real food — and it certainly doesn’t make it suitable for children or anyone aiming to fuel their body naturally. Its 2.5/5 Real Food Rating (RFR) offers a far more reliable guide for families seeking transparency about what’s really in the snacks they’re buying.
