MANDY'S TAKE
“A near-perfect, minimally processed sourdough bread made with organic ancient grain, true rye fermentation, and olive oil, this loaf stands out as a genuine real food option. The only drawback is the presence of soy lecithin as an emulsifier. While this additive isn’t a deal-breaker and is far from the worst, it can be derived from genetically modified sources, which some shoppers seek to avoid, especially when paying premium prices for artisan-style bread. Even so, in a category often crowded with additives, gums, and ultra-processed ingredients, this loaf is a superb daily choice for families who value real food but still shop at mainstream bakeries or supermarkets. It is a clear step above almost every conventional bread or wrap on the shelf, deserving recognition for bridging convenience and traditional food values.“

NUTRITION SNAPSHOT
Positives
- Organic Khorasan flour provides ancient grains, superior nutrition, and fewer pesticides.
- Rye sourdough starter means true wild fermentation, better gut friendliness, and natural keeping quality.
- Very low sugar: Only 0.3g/100g, all from inherent grain.
- Good protein (8g/100g) and low fat (3.7g/100g, with only 0.6g saturated).
- Fibre is 5.4g/100g—qualifying as a “good source” and ideal for family wraps
- Olive oil as the main fat—better than most commercial bread and provides beneficial fatty acids.
- No preservatives, gums, or industrial fats.
- Very short, recognisable ingredient list
Negatives
- Contains soy lecithin as an emulsifier—though naturally derived and only in tiny amounts, it is a processed additive, so nudges the True Real Food score down slightly.
- Sodium is on the higher side for kids or those needing a low-salt diet (514mg/100g).
- Very pricey for 5 wraps - not affordable for the average Aussie family
- Not suitable for gluten-, wheat-, or soy-allergic individuals.

THE VERDICT
A near-perfect, real sourdough built on organic ancient grain, real olive oil, and wild fermentation. The only reason it’s not a 5/5 Real Food Rating is the inclusion of soy lecithin and a touch of extra salt, but in a world of ultra-processed wraps, this is an exceptional choice for families seeking real food in a supermarket or bakery setting. Our goal is to ensure there are more options like this at more affordable prices.
