What many people don’t realise is how simple it is to make a homemade version using just a handful of wholefood ingredients, without the added colour or excess sodium often found in commercial spreads. This Homemade Savoury Style Spread is packed with umami flavour, quick to prepare, and makes a nutritious alternative for sandwiches, toast or snacks.

3/4 cups back tahini (optional, or use any tahini)
1/2 cup low sodium tamari (or soy sauce) low sodium tamari (or soy sauce)
3 tbs nutritional yeast
3 tsp apple cider vinegar

Directions

Combine all ingredients into a high-speed food process and process until smooth.
Mark as complete

Alternatively, add all ingredients into a medium-sized bowl and mix until well combined.

Serve with wholemeal or wholegrain sourdough toast or bread. Use as a savoury spread substitute in any of your family's favourite recipes or children's sandwiches.
